As an avid audio video enthusiast and technology fan it used to drive me crazy having to sort through a bundle of remotes to find the right one just to adjust the volume or turn on the television, or fumbling with a bank of switches trying to find out which one operates which light, or even have to go into the other room to try and adjust the volume or change the track for the audio system.

I was tired of not having the option to make my home smarter and more convenient. I was tired of being misled and never having access to the quality or selection of products and services I required.

What I came to realise is that the same people I was going to for information, often, were no more knowledgeable than I was on the matters of home automation (lighting control, distributed audio and video, home theatres).

After doing some in-depth research and intensive recruiting and training, I put together a group of products and a helpful and friendly staff that would satisfy my lofty requirements for cutting edge high quality products and services, and formed Key System Solutions Ltd.

The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) is the international trade organisation for the home electronic systems industry. Custom design and installation is the cutting edge of a rapidly growing field, and only recently is becoming more widely known outside the consumer-electronics industry. Among consumers, there is little awareness or appreciation for the specialized knowledge and skills of the electronic systems contractor. Builders and home designers are better informed, but most are not aware of the breadth of custom-installation services, or of all they and their clients stand to gain by using electronic systems contractors.

CEDIA's purpose is to build recognition and acceptance for this specialized field, and to speak up for its interests in addressing the industry, government, and the marketplace.

CEDIA members specialise in the planning, design, supply and installation of automated electronic systems for the modern, intelligent home. They can install anything from multi-room audio and home cinema systems to complete home networks and sub-systems which intelligently control lighting, security and HVAC.
